Domestic Goddess Tip 1

One of my closest friends shares my passion and admiration for Anthea Turner. She once showed me how to fold a child's swimming towel and I was so impressed! All down to the lovely Ms Turner. You may laugh but I recently rediscovered my stack of her 'How to' and 'Perfect' books and almost every page has something I want to share!

She is a neat freak, there is no doubt about it and there is no way I will ever achieve weekly washing of the dogs beds and daily wiping of the kitchen bin lid, but there are loads of hints and suggestions that made me reach for the notepad.

Tip 1

How to clean up broken glass

Have you ever thought that a slice of Hovis would be the magic wand!

That's right - once you have cleared up as much of the glass as you can with a dustpan and brush reach for the bread bin and grab a slice and use it as a mop.

It's texture and sponge like quality will pick up all those tiny shards that are almost impossible to see but are guaranteed to spike your little ones or little paws.

Genius!

The Ultimate Vintage Party

It is not often that something leaps out at you so dramatically on a store shelf. But when it does, you have to snarfle it into your basket as quickly as possible and run for the tills!

That was me last Sunday with a book. The Vintage Tea Party Book by Angel Adoree.

It has inspired me to set up a new page on my blog dedicated to everything I adore that is even a smidgen related to the vintage era! Check back very soon!

Watch out over the next few weeks for the sweetest sandwich recipes and dribble inducing cocktail recipes.

My current crush this week - the vintage tea party! Check out my Pinterest board for the ultimate vintage party! I just need an excuse now to host one!

Magpie on Safari

Just before Christmas we are throwing a bon voyage party for a family member who is off to Africa! I want to set up a photo booth, safari style, so we can have fun messing around and dressing up and hopefully get some ace pictures of the whole family.

I have been on the look out for anything I can use and you wouldn't believe how much old camouflage nets go for on eBay!

Today I couldn't believe my luck!

The half price rail in the Weston Hospice charity shop!

6 safari hats, one binocular case, two scarves and 7 shirts later I have the basics of the booth! All for £13!

My Mum was thrilled when I phoned her and reminded me, that her husband has a set of binoculars in the garage and we have an old set of my Grandpa's down at the beach hut in Southbourne!

I just need to find a bargain net and we are almost sorted! My Granny's suitcases will make great props too and the bamboo in the garden will make great jungle foliage!

Following my Pinterest board for the Safari send off here!

If you have any other explorer/safari/jungle props ideas let me know! Small boy has a giant stuffed giraffe and elephant but I would be grateful for any suggestions!
