Domestic Goddess - Tip 2

Do you ever look at your vase in the sunlight and see residue left over from old murky water? I have an old vase from Ikea that was a £1 but I love the shape and I put it in the dishwasher to try and get it really clean.

Top tip from one of my favourite Anthea books.

Fill you vase with water and drop a soluble aspirin into the water. Leave overnight and out of reach of children.

Simple!

The Bell of the Ball

In keeping with my romantic theme on the blog this week, I want to share my obsession with glass bell jars! I have lusted after them in fancy magazines and bookmarked different websites.

Thank goodness for TKMaxx! £16.99 and all my dreams have come true!

I spied one without a base for £7.99 but this one had me at the top knot.

I cut some roses from the bush in the front garden and used 4 of my bud vases (Cox and Cox) from the pigeon hole shelves in the lounge. The hole at the top allows the flowers to breathe and it make an exquisite and curious display.

I would have one in every room if I could! I am now on the hunt for a chicken wire version but can only find them on US sites!

Cox and Cox have a lovely one and there is a fab selection on Not on the High Street.

My favourite are the Boho Mini Glass Cloches which I would use to store ribbons as the handy hole would make them easy accessible!

Maison du Monde (I lust after everything on this French site which my architect's desk came from) have a footed version which I adore!

My current crush with The Wright Stuff - bell jars! Follow my Pinterest board for more ideas on how you can decorate with bell jars.

I do ... again!
wg-1-1.jpg

My husband and I walked up the aisle all over again on Sunday. Ok so it wasn't an aisle it was a catwalk!

My friend and hairdresser was the person responsible for transforming 25 'models' into blushing brides and nervous grooms for the Wedding Fair at the Winter Gardens.

I enlisted the help of two of my very beautiful friends, my husband, brother in law, sister and mum! For one day only she was the mother of 2 brides!

The morning was as you would expect, pandemonium, chaos, nervous laughter, tears but no tantrums! Everyone pulled together and I was really proud of us all.

I tool along a selection of pastries and the edible flower box from Greens of Devon. What could have been more romantic than petals in our bucks fizz and sweet flower and honey brioche sandwiches!

I adored the chance to dress up again and try two very different dresses. There was a little gasp from the crowd as I came out in the princess dress but I know it really was for the little 4 year old flower girl who accompanied me down the catwalk!

Big boy and small boy came to watch the second show and all I could see was the proudest three year old shouting "Oh Mama!"

What a day, what an experience!

What kind of dress would you have if you got married again or what is your dream dress if you were ever to say I do?!
