Introducing a bright young thing
photo1.jpg

My big boy had an amazing time at a friend's 3rd Birthday party a couple of weeks ago. Not only was there 2 bouncy castles and crafts and enough party food to sink a ship there was a disco. A disco! I loved it! More than him I think!

All the children adored it, even the babies who were determined to flap about like chickens even though they were still unsteady on their feet.

The best thing was the DJ. Let me introduce DJ Billy Chapz. He is 10 years old and goes to the local Primary School. I was so impressed. He was professional, friendly really enthusiastic and has had DJ equipment for as many Birthdays and Christmas' as he can remember. He plays a dvd of photographs on a screen in front of his decks and you can provide as many as you want.

At £10 an hour he is a steal too!

His Mum or Dad stay with him the whole time and he is now the resident DJ at his school!

I can't wait for our first DJ Billy Chapz disco. I'm thinking Valentines!

Forget meeting Father Christmas, meet Hue

We have had a busy family week of family parties! A butterfly party for my Sister and then my Cousin's 4 year old boy's magic party, complete with Sir Nit Wit! (A rather colourful children's entertainer who explained all the jokes?!)

We stopped in at my in laws between occasions and had the list discussion. The Christmas list.

Some people hate that debate, that you should buy surprises but with all the toys the boys already have, I would much rather give people ideas, to make sure they don't receive duplicates or that people don't spend hard earned money on something that won't be enjoyed as much as what is top of their wish list!

Top of the boys list is dressing up and small world this year. Big boy would love to start a playmobil collection (I never see any at nearly new sales) and small boy loves little people so the Le Toy Van Hospital would be right up his street! Plus his Uncle and Auntie bought him the matching ambulance for his birthday.

When I asked my husband what he would like from me I couldn't believe my ears. Then I couldn't believe my eyes.

My husband has a bizarre obsession with lightbulbs. We get weekly deliveries from Amazon with some new cost saving lightbulb and parcels get sent back to Amazon on a weekly basis with ones that don't quite create the right light.

We have always saved to really spoil each other at Christmas. Made each other up a stocking and enjoyed the thrill of having a pile of presents to unwrap.

But this left me speechless. A lightbulb, with a name, hue, with the earth shattering price of £180.

Now watch the video.

So what do you think?  A ridiculous waste of money or a very clever invention? Worth £180?

According to my husband it combines his two obsessions Apple products and lightbulbs, as it is being sold exclusively through Apple.

What is on your Christmas list?! Or haven't you got one? Have a peek at mine here.

Crumbs - the pumpkin

A couple of weekends ago we stayed in a hotel just down the road for the night. A lovely little boutique style hotel which is part of the Greek restaurant below.

I love the selection of magazines you get in a hotel. Ones you have never heard of but take great pleasure in flicking through from your hotel bed.

I have now discovered Crumbs magazine. Only in it's 3rd issue, Crumbs is a monthly publication of a food adventure, promoting local South West produce and businesses to a worldwide stage. (The New York Times have apparently seen it!)

It's beautifully written with captivating photography and articles that engage the reader with the West Country.

Even the paper it's printed on is appealing, with a matt texture and thicker under finger than glossy magazines.

They start this month with the pumpkin. Of course! A hero ingredient with bizarre medicinal benefits including helping chickens who refuse to lay eggs and dogs who are suffering from diarrhoea.

I adored the Little Black Book feature on the last page. A foodie guide to a weekend away in Bath.

The honey bee article has given me some great ideas and inspiration for my sister's bee theme baby shower next year too.

If you get a chance pick up a copy.
