Domestic Goddess - Tip 2
housewife.jpg

Do you ever look at your vase in the sunlight and see residue left over from old murky water? I have an old vase from Ikea that was a £1 but I love the shape and I put it in the dishwasher to try and get it really clean.

Top tip from one of my favourite Anthea books.

Fill you vase with water and drop a soluble aspirin into the water. Leave overnight and out of reach of children.

Simple!

The Bell of the Ball
belle-4.jpg

In keeping with my romantic theme on the blog this week, I want to share my obsession with glass bell jars! I have lusted after them in fancy magazines and bookmarked different websites.

Thank goodness for TKMaxx! £16.99 and all my dreams have come true!

I spied one without a base for £7.99 but this one had me at the top knot.

I cut some roses from the bush in the front garden and used 4 of my bud vases (Cox and Cox) from the pigeon hole shelves in the lounge. The hole at the top allows the flowers to breathe and it make an exquisite and curious display.

I would have one in every room if I could! I am now on the hunt for a chicken wire version but can only find them on US sites!

Cox and Cox have a lovely one and there is a fab selection on Not on the High Street.

My favourite are the Boho Mini Glass Cloches which I would use to store ribbons as the handy hole would make them easy accessible!

Maison du Monde (I lust after everything on this French site which my architect's desk came from) have a footed version which I adore!

My current crush with The Wright Stuff - bell jars! Follow my Pinterest board for more ideas on how you can decorate with bell jars.

Baby Sister Beauty - Bridal Glow
bsb-6.jpg

In keeping with my weekend as a bride, the Baby Sister Beauty tip this week is how to achieve that glow that seems to surround a 'blushing bride'. My sister discovered a product by MAC (although I am sure there are others on the market) called Strobe Cream. It comes in a hard but squeezy tube and has a mayonnaise type consistency!

Apply a 5p blob to each cheek and rub the excess left on your hands onto your forehead and chin, to avoid an all over shiny look.

It leaves a shimmery (but not sparkly) sheen on your skin onto which you apply your foundation. It acts as a pretty primer!

MAC also make a Strobe Liquid Lotion but it has a wetter, thiner consistency so is more lightweight if that is what you prefer.

Both give a radiance to your skin and smoothes imperfections. MAC describe the Strobe Cream as the ultimate quick fix, to boost tired and flat looking skin!

A 30ml tube is priced at £12.50. You can but it here. One tube will last almost forever!

Excuse my old lady hands but it was easier to show the sheen than trying to take a self portrait of my cheek!
