Pretty Petal Ice Lollies

What could be more delicious than something that looks too pretty to eat.

Edible flowers are just the most beautiful ingredient. With all the hot weather we have been lucky enough to experience over the last week, I have been inspired to make lots of lollies! But the petal ones have to be my favourite.

PetalIceLollies.jpg

I used elderflower cordial and cherry flavoured water for the lollies themselves and then dropped the petals in at random.

If you want a perfect look then freeze a third at a time to keep the flowers evenly spaced. I love the perfect imperfect look, so just popped the sticks straight in and whacked them in the freezer.

I used wide wax spatulas instead of normal lolly sticks  (A timely gift from a friend who said "I was having a clear out and thought, I know someone who might be able to use them for something crafty!") as they have more room to write on. You could ink stamp words on too, or names of party guests, if you made a big batch for a special occasion.

I was totally inspired by these, these and these and there are loads more to choose from on Pinterest like these edible cheese towers, if you are feeling motivated to make petal creations of all descriptions.

I had a few petals left over so made a few pretty cocktails. I'll share those beauties next week :)

I always remember my Mum used to make an ice bowl with flowers in it for 'dinner parties'. Take a large bowl and fill it a third full with water. Take a smaller bowl and place it in the water so the bowls sandwich the water between them. Add more water to ensure it almost reaches the top. Almost - remember it will expand in the freezer. Drop your flowers into it, they don't need to be edible if you are only using it for display purposes. Freeze for at least 4 hours. If you want a perfect look freeze a little at a time and add more flowers to ensure they are evenly spread.

They went down very well on the hot summer's day we had this week. I bought my flowers from Greens of Devon . What would you make with edible flowers?

Cheats Glitter Tassel Garland

I love crafts that are quick and easy but super effective.

Hooray for pre cut paper lengths!

I bought several packets of these glitter paper strips (£1.99 each from The Range) instead of painstakingly cutting my own.

Group 20 or so strands together. It doesn't have to be perfect so just bunch together, tie with string and away you go!

GlitterTasselGarland.jpg

I made a short string that will be perfect along a buffet table at an upcoming party but you could easily make a great length in no time. I love the way the wind catches them - they would look lovely strung up outside.

Wonderful Wedding Wednesday • Mr & Mrs Webb

On Friday a new team was formed. The North Somerset fundraising team for The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation

This incredible charity, based in Taunton, makes dreams come true. They organise and fund wonderful weddings for terminally ill brides and grooms, working with heartbreaking stories and often under critical time constraints.

Time is precious, to all of us. But for some couples, time may be running out.

I have wanted to use my blog for a greater good and now I know how.

Welcome to Wonderful Wedding Wednesday! Every week I will bring you a beautiful couple, on the most magical day of their lives. How lucky to have friends, who have had such lovely weddings!

All that I ask, is if you enjoy the post, please take a minute to donate just £1 to The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation.

Introducing Melanie and Adam...

This happy couple met in the summer of 2006 when they were working together on Vanessa Feltz's chat show. Melanie was his assistant producer and he was the producer so technically he was her boss! A quiet romance blossomed and they had their first proper date the day after filming finished. That was seven years ago!

Adam proposed in December 2011, in New York. He surprised Melanie on the balcony of the hotel on their first night, and Melanie was so jet lagged, out of it and a little bit drunk (her words!) that it took her a couple of minutes to figure out what was going on! He had planned it all and asked her dad's for permission before they left.

They married in Surrey in front of 80 guests, near where Melanie grew up, and chose the church and the barn venue, simply because they fell in love with them. Melanie's nieces Freya and Sophia did a wonderful job as bridesmaids and the sun shone brightly over the happy couple.

A huge thank you to Steve Fuller, their photographer, for letting me share his beautiful images.

Melanie said of their dream day "It was all totally amazing and everything we both dreamed it would be. If I had to pick something that was most special, I would say it was being surrounded by all our close friends and family - it was amazing to share our day with everyone we love."

Melanie now works in PR for the film industry and Adam is the Events Producer at Masterchef. Mr and Mrs Webb currently live in Tulse Hill/Brixton, but are planning to move slightly outside of London this year. Wishing them a happy house hunt!
