Jubilee Mess
jubileemess-6.jpg

Inspired by the latest Cath Kidston catalogue, which featured a Jubilee trifle, I concocted these sweet little Jubilee nests, which as soon as you crack into them, resemble an Eton mess! Hey presto - my Jubilee mess! My basket of goodies - meringue nests, squirty cream (for white), strawberries (for red) and blueberries (for blue) and your toppings.

I made chocolate crowns from a mould I bought, cheap as chips on eBay and patriotic sprinkles from Hobbycraft. I melted a bar of chocolate in the microwave for a minute and a half then set it in the fridge for a few hours. One bar made 6 crowns.

Slightly crush your blueberries with a fork to stop them rolling off the meringue. Add thinly sliced strawberries, a squirt of cream and add your topping!

Kids and adults will love them and you could make mini versions, if you chopped the top off the mini meringues you can buy in a pot. Making meringues not my strong point!

Coincidence?! Photo a day May
snackpots1.jpg

I couldn't believe it when I saw that today's Fat Mum Slim's photo a day May, theme is snack. I am sat in the lounge, painstakingly adding spotty dots, to the snack pots for my big boy's party, next weekend. 30 down, 22 to go!

Perfect!

The big ones are for pom-bear 'brave bear' crisps and the little ones for 'pet's' popcorn! (It's a Wonder Pets theme!)

They are actually grow your own fibre pots from B & Q but they work perfectly and were a bargain!

our lovely jubbly Jubilee book

As I mentioned earlier in my photo a day may post, I have made a little felt book for big boy to take to preschool tomorrow. They have been asked to bring in pictures of the Queen, as they are learning about the Jubilee.

I found a Golden Jubilee commemorative book in a charity shop for 50p!

We sat this afternoon and went through all the pictures he liked, telling a story.

He chose the cuddles with her Mummy photo and the bride photo. (His Uncle is getting married in 5 weeks so weddings is all we talk about!) He liked the animal ones too but didn't quite understand why she had scarves on her head, instead of a crown!

Excuse the fuzzy writing, felt tip on felt not so good!
