The last drink
jubilee-2.jpg

It has been a four day feast in our house! But as of tomorrow, I need to get back to my Slimming World ways and shift the pounds I have no doubt put on over the weekend! It is my brother's wedding in just over 3 weeks! 8 lbs to lose in 3 weeks - it's a tall order! Tonight is the last night of naughty mid week drinking so we saw it out in style!

Cheers to her Majesty! Long live the Queen!

Brilliant Banwell - here's how you Jubilee!
jubilee-98.jpg

Our friends who live in Banwell, saved us today, from missing out on the best children's party we have ever been to! A ticketed affair, organised by a charitable group in Banwell, which was geared completely for children. (With the exception of the cider on tap, that my husband enjoyed a little too much of to be called a responsible parent!) We only got our tickets 20 hours before the event and they were among the last 4 for sale! We had had it on the calendar for weeks but as a non school going mummy I hadn't realised you had to buy tickets in advance! Thank goodness for our friends who put in a good word with the organiser!

£1 a child and they received a union jack party box bursting with every kind of party food under the sun (of which there was none, it pelted down all afternoon), a flag, a hat and a commemorative mug and cake! There was free face painting, a puppeteer and a magician, whose tricks must have been made in the 60's, but were perfect for the little, wide eyed audience.

The bouncy castles and games on the field had to be cancelled, but to be honest it didn't spoil a thing!

There was a fancy dress competition, scroll down to see who won!

There was everything you could want from a perfect British party, including jelly and ice cream by the bucket load!

They even managed to get the actual Olympic torch!

The Queen and Prince Philip made a grand entrance in a red plastic carriage!

Well done to all the organisers, who I am sure are elated and exhausted tonight!

90 minutes of Jubilee fun at Puxton Park
jubilee-37.jpg

I can't recommend the annual membership at Puxton Park enough! We use it for the odd hour here and there and it saved us after the disappointment of the Hutton Village Jubilee party! I'm sure everyone else had a great time but we had thought it was a village fair bustling with stalls and trestle tables full of cakes! A field with no bouncy castle, is like a sin to my big boy! So we raced to Puxton for the last hour and a half of opening. Our friend's sister works there and is amazing with the children. Big boy was mesmerised when she brought out a 4 day old guinea pig!

If you ever visit Weston super Mare this is a great place to go!

The weather was incredible and we picked up some sausages from the award winning Butcher at the Farm Shop, which we put on the bbq when we got home! The Farm Shop is worth a visit all on it's own!
