A special boy

My husband and I are off to see our friend and her 3 year old boy tonight. They are in Bristol Children's Hospital as, just over a year ago he was diagnosed with Leukaemia. He has been doing really well and has responded fantastically to the chemotherapy but is currently in isolation, after a hip operation (he had a build up of fluid) after coming out in chicken pox. Poor boy, I am not sure life could throw anything else at him.

We admire our friend so much, she is a inspiration. She lost her husband in a tragic accident when their son was just 5 months old.

It is a very humbling experience, visiting the children's ward and when we saw them last week, I came home feeling so grateful for our healthy boys.

We bow down to all the parents who are living, 24 hours a day, in a hospital, supporting their poorly children. You all deserve medals of solid gold.

Vintage nail love

Tonight I had the most wonderful hour with Sasha from Nail Couture. Well actually it was a little bit longer down to all the gas bagging! Sasha is an incredibly talented beautician who has set up her own business, working from home. Check out her Facebook page!

I spied a photo on her page of some rose painted nails and booked in immediately!

Beautiful, vintage inspired polish and it doesn't matter how long your nails are!

I have booked in, for a few weeks time, to have my toes painted as well! I'll take some photos while I am there so you can see how she builds up the roses!

The roses are hand painted and she charges £5. Quite ridiculous for such intricate work. I paid her and extra £3 and still felt guilty when I drove home.

I can't stop looking at them!

The disappearing sock

How, oh how do you put matching pairs of socks in the wash but when they come out there is one missing? One of life's mysteries but so annoying!

I have a basket full of the boys odd socks and I am determined not to buy anymore! I will match them all!

My very late Mama's Monday Must Do! Well it feels like a Monday!
