Homemade Mini Milks
Homemademinimilks.jpg

There are lots of things I am trying to teach my son before he starts school in September. To get him ready for being a big boy at big boy school. One of them is to use a knife and fork. For such a long time I have set the table with a spoon and a fork but now he is almost 4 it’s time to know how to use a knife!

We made these sweet healthy lollies as a way to involve him in a simple recipe and he was very proud of his cutting skills! It’s good hand eye coordination practice and teaches them to take care and be precise. You can also use it as a safety lesson about being very careful with knives!

They wrote on wide lolly sticks which fruit was in which lolly and then we added milk to half of them and yoghurt to the others. There was no need for any added sweeteners!

Leave your lollies in the freezer for 4 hours and enjoy. The kiwi was my favourite.

A delicious way to help with motor skills, growing up skills with a healthy treat as a reward!

Ingredients:

  • Fruit
  • Milk
  • Yoghurt
  • Lolly Moulds
  • Lolly Sticks (unless your mould comes complete with plastic sticks)

Preparation time:

  • 5 minutes
  • Freezing time - 4 hours

BritMums Live 2013

Hold onto your hats, hurricane Lucy is heading for London.

I will be joining 500 bloggers at the annual BritMums Live conference held at The Brewery in London on the 21st June. BritMums is the Uk's largest collective of parent bloggers and social influencers

Of course it is not going to be possible to meet all 499 other delegates, but I am going to try. These conferences are all about networking. A chance to meet in person, the people you converse with every day on Twitter and Facebook.

Fortunately, I do not have a shy bone in my body, I am genetically programmed to introduce myself to random strangers freely and offer my life story within the first 5 minutes of meeting them.

I want to soak up every minute. Every minute of the atmosphere of excitable individuals, who are passionate about their hobby as I am and for some, have made it into a career.

There are some incredible speakers on the agenda and I am super excited to attend a number of the workshops including the Photography session with Emily Quinton, whose blog I follow religiously. But the highlight of the event for me is going to be the Brilliance in Blogging Awards on the Friday evening, as I am a Finalist in the Photo category.

I thought getting into the final was a pipe dream so the thought of actually winning makes my brain go into overdrive and sing Paolo Nutini's Pencil Full of Lead over and over again. I am busy practising my gracious loser face which I am sure I will need!

The event is sold out, so I hope that any of my readers who wish they were coming, will follow my 48 hours on Twitter and Facebook.

I have been sponsored to attend the conference (and stay in a gorgeous hotel) by a fab blog reading app called Imotiv. I wrote a little about them when they first launched the app last September, which you can read here.

Imotiv lets you follow your favourite blogs, all together in one format and it picks out the best line from each post as a highlight. You can comment which pops up on the bloggers phone like a text message so it's a great way to start direct conversations and reply to comments from your readers.

Thank you to my readers who follow this blog via Imotiv - I am very lucky to have you all.

I shall be staying in the boutique London hotel Threadneedles - so make you follow my blog so you can share the wonderful weekend away experience - I fell in love with the dome ceiling!

BritMums has encouraged all attendees to link up their answers to the following questions so we can all help find each other!

Name: Lucy Heath, my friends call me Luce my family call me Lu. My husband calls me Filey (my maiden name was Filewood).

Blog: Capture by Lucy (my third baby).

Twitter ID: @capturebylucy

Height: 5ft 10" and I'll be in heels (wedges to be comfy) I am tall and proud!

Hair: Dark brown and long. I feel like a brunette Rapunzel at the moment.

Eyes:  Dark brown to match my hair ;)

Is this your first blogging conference:  First conference but second blog event. Back in March I went to Blog Summit. A room full of blog lovers - marvellous.

Are you attending both days: Of course! I'm coming from the countryside of Weston super Mare, so definitely worth staying for the whole event!

What are you most looking forward to: Totally indulging in my love for blogging in a room full of people who feel the same. I converse everyday on Twitter with a number of bloggers who feel like good friends, so it will be great to finally meet in person and become real life friends!

What are you wearing:  I am not 100% sure. Definitely a dress but I only recently realised you don't change for the evening's award ceremony. Shame really, as I got a little excited about being more glamorous for the evening. I am more of a dress up girl than dress down, so I know it will either be a print dress and plain wedges or print sandals and a block colour dress.

What do you hope to gain from BritMumsLive 2013: Umm am I allowed to say an award?! It's all rubbish when people say they are happy just to take part! Everyone wants to win! I'm teasing of course, I will be beaming all day just to be at the event as I am sure I won't be taking home a shiny trophy. There are some incredible photographers in the category. I hope I will pick up some tips from the professional photographers too. I love that my hobby is turning into something more but I have a long way to go yet! Good luck everyone.

Something you may not know about me: At school I ran competitively in District Athletics in the 800m. That was until I hit 16 and overnight developed a DD/E pair of knockers and my running career was over.

I hope to meet as many fellow bloggers as possible, so if you see an over friendly, smiley tall lady, brandishing an instant camera, grab me and say hello!

In the meantime, check out Imotiv to follow your favourite blogs on the go, in the most innovative way.
